Mini Flex Covers

As any regular reader of this blog knows, my Mini Flex is one of my favorite things. The pink cover of my mini flex was starting to show wear and was starting to look worn.

Here’s what it looked like brand new.

Original Cover

I had been trying to figure out a way to create a new cover without removing the pink one.

I knew what I wanted, but hadn’t quite figured out how to do it.

Then it hit me one night after a crafting day with my friend. I went around to various stores to collect when I needed and came home to create.

My first cover that I made was cut from a woven placemat. I used my seam ripper to punch the holes through the fabric so it would fit on the rings.

1st attempt at new cover-fall themed

The second cover I made was a little more complicated. My friend gave me a cutting of a piece of fabric from her fabric stash, I cut another piece from the woven placemat from the first cover, sewed the fabric to the woven placemat piece, and punch the holes with the seam ripper.

2nd attempt-fall themed

My final and current cover was the simplest one I’ve done, and is my favorite thus far. I found a dark teal plastic folder, cut it to size, punched it with a 3-hole punch, added the autumn stickers, and put packaging tape over it to keep the stickers stay.

3rd attempt-desired design

All three covers are held on with Velcro® dots. I am really happy with how each came out, and I feel like I have more freedom when it comes to my mini flex. I’m not stuck with the pink cover.

So that is how I’ve customized and refurbished my Mini Flex.

What a clever idea! I would never think to use woven placemats. Nice job!
